"Unlimited Mercy"

In the Name of Allah, the  Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate,

My beloved brothers and sisters, Allah does not want to punish you!  Allah wants to grant you His Mercy and Forgiveness!  The real question is, are you and I truly seeking His Mercy and Forgiveness?  Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, that Allah has pledged saying:

"My mercy prevails over my wrath." (Bukhari)

Allah, in this hadith qudsi, is telling us about His beautiful attribute of Mercy.  He is informing us that His Mercy prevails over His wrath.  He's telling us that He wants to be Merciful with us, and is not looking to punish us!  He is not looking to abandon us, or leave us alone!

He, Allah, is informing us, that He is so merciful that His wrath is overtaken by it.  His wrath does not stand a chance when it comes to His Mercy.  His wrath is something that is only used upon those who truly are not seeking His Mercy.  Upon those individuals who really turn away from Him, illustrating that they do not care about Him, His revelation, or how He has ordered us to live.

Allah loves and cares for His believing slaves so much, that He has made it known that is Mercy is what He will grant them. You and I are worshipping a Lord who is absolutely beautiful!  He has not left us wondering, "Will my creator be Merciful with me?"

We know in absolute terms that He will be merciful with His slaves, those who earn that Mercy and Forgiveness.  We cannot be individuals who read this narration and think that we can play a game with Allah.  We cannot say to ourselves "Allah's mercy prevails over His wrath, so if I sin, I will be ok."

This is sinning with an intention of being forgiven.  Allah knows the state of our heart, mind, and soul!  He knows if we are being sincere or hypocritical. He is the All Knowing and nothing escapes His knowledge.  If we live life, acknowleding that He is the All Knowing, then we would never intentionally sin, thereby expecting His Mercy.

We would be cautious of our actions knowing that every now and again we slip and we sin.  And this is from the attributes of the sons and daughters of Adam, but when we slip unintentionally or out of extreme weakness, then we look forward to asking for mercy from the Most Merciful.

Even during those times of extreme weakness or during those times when a person may feel completely broken and lost, thinking that they cannot be saved, and that mercy can never reach them, Allah addresses them so beautifully saying:

"O My servants who have transgressed against their own souls, do not despair the Mercy of Allah, for Allah forgives all sins. Verily, He is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful."  (Zumar:53)

Allah is telling us to always be hopeful, and to have certainty, that things are never completely lost when you have Allah. Allah will always be there, even when the world has abandoned you! You can always cry and complain to Him.  He is always listening and attentive.  He is always there for you to turn to, and He will never abandon a person who demonstrates that they are in need of Him.

Only in Allah can we find such beauty and unlimited support.  Only in Allah can we find unlimited Love, Mercy, and Comfort.  He's telling us, O lost soul, do not despair my Mercy for it is here waiting for you.  It is here awaiting to embrace and engulf your broken spirit.  It is here, to help repair what you thought could not be fixed, as I am the only one who can assist you.

Allah is the Greatest!  People seek this type of support from humans who cannot help them. Never turn to the people for a problem and tribulation that only Allah can solve. Turn to Him sincerely with devotion and you will find Him, Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful.

May Allah bless you all,

AbdurRazzaq Abu Sumayyah Lebron
