Monumental Update To The Centro Islamico Construction!

Alhamdulillah! We're 1 step closer to completing the buildout of the ONLY Spanish-speaking Latino-led Islamic Center in the United States!

The Arches to the Prayer area are almost complete! 🕌

Here are the images of the Andalucia style arches being built for the prayer area of the IslamInSpanish Centro Islamico. Its really starting to take shape and we’re so excited to be moving along and staying on schedule.

Centro Islamico Construction Update May 18 2023

🕌✨ What's Going On At The Centro Islamico? 🚧🛠️💫

Since the end of Ramadan 🌙, our Centro has been closed to the public and we've been in full-swing construction mode transforming the heart of the Centro into a vibrant Masjid and Islamic Center. We're absolutely thrilled to share with you our progress! ✅ In Ramadan, we've completed the interior demolition of the building

✅ Then, we cut through the concrete foundation to install the main runs for the plumbing of the building. (This took longer than expected, but it's a testament to the Centro's incredibly solid foundation)

➡️ As soon as we receive the green light 🟢 (aka the necessary permits), we'll be covering up those main runs and moving forward with the fire suppression system 🕌 This critical step will swiftly be followed up by the metal framing for the walls. Our developer is optimistic that we will be able to complete this unique project within the next three months!

Demolition Complete! - April 10 2023

Alhumdulillah we have finished the first step in the construction which is to demolish the interior walls that were in the building before so we can build the one of a kind Masjid. 2nd Week Construction Update - March 3, 2022

Alhumdulillah we’re moving things along in the construction build out of the IslamInSpanish Centro Islamico. A quick update with CEO & Founder, Jaime “Mujahid” Fletcher.

Details of the Construction Project

The IslamInSpanish Centro Islamico is the Global Headquarters of IslamInSpanish located in the city of Houston, Texas in one of Houston's most diverse neighborhoods "Alief" where its founders grew up. It is located right under the water tower that says Alief and less than 1 minute away from Hastings and Elsik High Schools which houses over 11,000 high school students combined.

We are looking to create out of the Centro Islamico a model that can be replicated in other major cities where Latinos and Muslims reside throughout the U.S. with the second one possibly being in the city of Dallas next since we have a rental IslamInSpanish Dallas Outreach Center for the past 4 years. It is the only place where the Friday sermon is delivered in Spanish in the United States and broadcasted throughout Latin America in places where there are no mosques nor Muslims living.
