"...that was really beautiful to me.” - Marisol

“They came up to me and they asked me: What is your social media? What is your phone number? We’re going to be in contact. And that was really beautiful to me.”

This touching account from a revert in our Latino Muslim family highlights the essence of what makes the Centro Islamico so unique. In a world where the journey into a new faith can often feel solitary, the immediate outreach and genuine connection offered by the Centro represent a beacon of hope and belonging.

Sadly, the reality for many new converts is a stark contrast to this warmth. Taking the Shahada often means navigating a path of loneliness, as they step away from long-held family traditions and into a new spiritual identity. This transition, profound and complex, is where the true strength of community becomes invaluable.

As Ramadan ends today, let’s carry forward the spirit of generosity and unity that defines this holy month. We’ve seen incredible support so far, with over 700 donors contributing an average of $100 each, achieving 20% of our goal. Yet, to fully reopen the Centro, to ensure no new Muslim feels left behind but instead finds a family waiting, we still need 2,771 more generous believers to contribute $100.

The Centro Islamico serves not just as a Masjid but as a foundation for those seeking guidance and a sense of community in their new faith journey. The proactive support for new reverts, ensuring they know they’re not alone, is critical to their growth and sense of belonging in the Muslim community.
